Hotham 5.5 is LUST’s most popular and well-known trip. Departing early Sunday morning from La Trobe (Bundoora) you’ll join fellow LUSTies for the journey up to Mount Hotham. From then you'll have 5.5 days of skiing and boarding to your hearts desire. 
There are plenty of activities to keep you entertained after the lifts stop turning including themed party nights. Every year LUSTies take over The General Store (The Genny) to show the mountain what we’re made of. With shows from the notorious DJ Eddy you’ll be sure to be dancing the night away and having a great time. 
This trip is possibly the most fun you will have whilst at uni, you’ll get to spend 5.5 days being completely carefree with some of the best people you could meet.

2023 TRIP OVERVIEW:  Sunday 16thh - Friday 21st July 

Sunday 16th July:

• Early morning departure from La Trobe

• Mt Hotham arrival: soak up the views; unpack; hire gear; and have a half day of skiing/ boarding

Monday 17th - Thursday 20th July: 

• Cruise the mountatin all day

• Dinner and drinks in the lodge

• Themed party nights and live DJ's 

• Group dinner

Friday 21st July: 

• Ski during the day

• Pack up and depart Friday early afternoon

| BEGINNERS TRIP |

First launched in 2015, this two-night trip designed for beginners provides the perfect introduction to skiing or snowboarding. Simply sit back and relax while we make the experience as easy as possible for you, as we'll organise everything from your transport to and from Mount Hotham, your hire gear requirements, accommodation, and two ski or snowboard lessons from Mount Hotham Snowsports School to get you on your way.

With on-mountain accommodation, just an easy stroll away from the mountain village, and plenty of time for you to practice your newfound skills on the slopes, this trip is perfect for those who have never seen the wonder of snow before.

Places are limited and restricted to beginners, so please ensure that you attend Trip Booking Day (TBA). 

2023 TRIP OVERVIEW: Sunday 9th July - Wednesday 12st  July  

Sunday 9th July 

• Meet at La Trobe with your bags - your committee will be driving you up.
• Hire ski/snowboard gear; take in the views; and have a play on the slopes
• Dinner and drinks in the lodge

Monday 10th July 

• Lessons and ski/snowboard day
• Enjoy dinner and drinks in the lodge – or head out to the village!

Tuesday 11th July 

• Lessons and ski/snowboard day 
• Dinner and drinks in the lodge - themed party night! 

Wednesday 12th July 

• Last day of skiing/boarding. Show us your new skills! 
• Head home and group dinner in Bright

| VICTORIAN INTER-VARSITY (VIC IV) |

“Race Hard, Party Hard”

Do you like to spend your days ripping down the mountain, playing in the park, or showing off your skills at the pub? Then VIC IV is the trip for you. Considered more of a social than a competitive event we are looking for intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders to represent the university at the Championships. 
We can guarantee after Hotham 5.5 you’ll be suffering from “Post-Hotham-Depression”, it’s a thing, trust us. You can back it up however by repping LUST at VICIVs! Join Melbourne, Vic Uni, Monash, RMIT, Deakin, and Swinburne for four days of hardcore partying…oh, and some competing too! This is a wild 4 days, not only do you get to represent your university in your choice of events but you will probably also be partying well into the early hours of the morning.

Wednesday 26^th July:

• Afternoon departure from La Trobe
• Arrive at Mt Buller for ski hire, race briefing and dinner

Thursday 27^th– Sat 39th July:

• Racing
• Skiing all day

• Final day of skiing
• Head home in the afternoon
• Dinner in Mansfield

| SNOW NATIONALS |

Nationals Snow alternates between Thredbo Mountain Resort (NSW) and Mt.Buller Ski Resort (VIC) each calendar year and will be contested in both men's and women's competitions across four sports; alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, snowboard, and cross country skiing.

2023 TRIP OVERVIEW: Saturday 2nd September - Thursday 7th September 

Saturday 2nd Sept:

• Meet at La Trobe Uni and head up to Thredbo
• Check in and settle for the night 

Sunday 3rd September

• Get in some practice laps in preparation for racing 

Monday 4th September - Thursday 8th September

• Racing in the morning, and cruising the mountain all afternoon.
• Apres ski each afternoon at various bars in Thredbo village

| BULLER DAY TRIPS |

Throughout the winter season, we offer impromptu day trips up to Mt.Buller to go skiing, snowboarding, or sightseeing.

These trips are usually announced a few days or a week before so keep an eye out for our emails or social media accounts for these announcements.

COST:

*Approx. $50 for transport & resort entry. 

*Approx $100-$120 lift ticket.

Rental skis and snowboard not included - hire at your own cost in the village 

* you are required to purchase your own lift tickets upon arrival at the mountain (we will give you instructions on how to do this on the day).

* Ski & snowboard lessons can be arranged on the day.

What you will need for each trip: 

• Over night bag including: comfy clothes for in the lodge; thermals, polar fleeces and warm under clothes for skiing;  outdoor clothes and shoes for wearing in the village. 
• We recommend you bring food and drink for lunches and dinner - its expensice on the mountain. LUST will provide basic breakfast items including: ceral & milk (non-dairy alternatives); bread; spreads; tea and coffee. 
• Everyone will need their own: goggles; gloves; ski socks; and face mask. If it is your first time up at the snow we have outwear which you can borrow for free.
